OVERVIEW
Hot works welding curtains is an approved welding curtain material that is used for heavy welding operations. These are applications where there will be high temperatures, sparks, molten splashing, and heavy slag present. Often times referred to as "Hot Work Welding". There are several different materials to choose from and many different mounting options available to choose from.
The Most Common Hot Work Categories
Hot Work Welding Blankets
Approved welding blankets drape over products or equipment to protect them during welding operations.
Hot Work Welding Curtains
Approved hot work welding curtains roll side to side or can be fixed in place to provide protection from welding operations.
Why Use Hot Work Welding Curtains?
What is Approved?
Approved welding materials are generally required for sensitive welding applications such as oil and gas, refining, nuclear, and other highly sensitive areas. Approval can vary from industry to industry and from one application to another. Canvas hot work weld curtains have the highest ratings. Please contact our team if you are trying to meet a specific requirement.
Is Vinyl Approved?
Standard vinyl welding curtains which are typically used in the vast majority of welding applications are also approved welding materials. However, hot work canvas welding curtains have a much higher temperature rating and are made for very rigorous use. That does not mean that vinyl welding curtains are not suitable for welding applications. It is better to think of them as a different category of welding curtain.
When to use Hot Work Curtains?
Choosing a hot work canvas welding curtain material is more expensive than vinyl welding curtains and is recommended by Akon when you have high temperature needs, heavy close range welding, and or strict requirements based on required codes.
