Common Questions
What is an impact door?
A free-standing swinging door provides quick access from one curtain wall side to the other. Also known as impact doors, these heavy duty doors can take a lot of abuse from carts, fork lifts or heavy foot traffic. The doors freely swing both forward and backwards like restaurant kitchen doors. These doors are designed to be opened by impact.
Why use an impact door?
Traffic doors are an excellent choice for applications where a high volume of traffic exists and minimal infiltration is desired. Doors serve as a barrier. This barrier can be thermal, visual, sound, environmental or secure.
Do I have to weld the frames?
There is no welding required for any of our entry options. The freestanding frames simply bolt together. They also have base plates which have to be bolted to the concrete floor. Once fully assembled, you simply attach the curtain wall to the outside of the freestanding frame with our seal Velcro and then attach your swinging door.
Add On Options
Bottom Jamb Guards
Jamb Guards are used to raise the lower door hinge off the floor preventing it from damage caused by pallet jacks and forklifts. Available in full stainless-steel for special applications.
Tear-Drop Bumpers
Tear-drop bumpers protrude from the door 3 - 4″ and are designed to minimize impact from carts, pallet jacks, and motorized equipment. Available from 18″ to 42″ height
Special Windows
Medium and over-sized viewing windows are ideal in high traffic areas where optimal vision is a safety concern. Available in select sizes pending the model
Free Standing Frames
Both C-channel and Tubular frames (tubular is what we quote as a default) options are available to provide strength and integrity to your door installation. All frames are 3-piece construction and pre-drilled for hinges (Making door installation easier).
